Keeping healthy through the festive season
While you may not have the Christmas you would have wished for, there is still an opportunity for enjoying time with your loved ones. However, this can be a time of stress and tension, as well as throwing caution to the wind!
We share some tips:
Don't eat too much - I know it sounds like we are just being bah humbug! We want you to enjoy yourselves and have treats you might not normally eat, but don't get to that point where it's going to take all of January to get rid of it again!
Move around - with time spent chatting, playing games or catching up on movies it's easy to lose track of time and just end up sitting for ages. Add to that a sofa that's not going to support you as well as your usual work chair, and suddenly you find you are stiff and uncomfortable
Get some fresh air - there really is no better medicine. A walk and talk will do wonders for your mental well being, and help to ease tensions if there are any undercurrents going on - every family has them!
Drink - yes we know your ears pricked up at that one! Whilst we appreciate you might want to enjoy a few glasses of something delicious, don't forget to drink plenty of water too. Your whole body, and your mind, will thank you for it.
Take some you time - whether you need to find a little space to do something you want to do like read a book, or listen to a podcast, or you just need to get away from the tension of having been with your family in lockdown for too long - don't forget to look after yourself too
Stretch it out - it wouldn't be our newsletter if we didn't remind you to look after your back and joints! Remember to gently stretch your back, roll your neck and shoulders and take a deep breath, to ease tension in your body and keep yourself mobile.
Remember that we have all had a tough year, so try to be tolerant of others and be good to yourself too - after the year we have all had you deserve it!
Happy Christmas!
