Introducing Jan Lanaway
Jan Lanaway has joined the clinic working Monday to Wednesday. She offers a range of complementary therapies including aromatherapy and reflexology treatments.
We are going to dive into reflexology, her main treatment, in a little more detail...
Reflexology - How it works
A therapeutic and holistic practice that is deeply relaxing while helping to heal, reduce pain and aid inflammation. It works by applying pressure to specific points on the feet that correspond to different areas of the body - organs, systems and glands. The treatment helps to improve circulation and support overall well being.
Stimulating reflex points on your feet can help balance energy and encourage the body's natural healing processes. Reflexology is often used to relieve stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, fatigue and hypertension, as well as alleviating headaches and migraines by releasing tension, balancing hormones, and improving digestion by supporting relaxation and stress reduction.
The treatment encourages your body to enter a state of deep relaxation, calming the reflex points linked to the nervous system. It can affect a person's mood, comfort and general sense of well being for the better.
It is a complementary therapy, and, as such, should be used alongside traditional treatments or prescribed medicine. It should never be a substitute for medical treatment, as this could cause a delay in diagnosis.
What can you expect?
Reflexology can feel relaxing and soothing, although pressure on certain reflex areas may feel uncomfortable or even ticklish. Everyone is different and the response to the treatment can be immediate, but often requires 5-6 sessions before the benefits can be felt. Regular weekly treatments are best to enable the body to start the self healing process.
You will need an initial consultation at your first appointment.
