In the Garden

After being cooped up indoors it's very easy to get carried away with the nice weather, starting big projects, now you can get out to the garden centres.

As the clinic has opened up again, we are already seeing the first "casualties" of ambitious projects.

Staying safe in the garden:

  • Gardening is a form of exercise - do some stretches to warm up before you get stuck in

  • Get as close as you can to what you are doing - avoid overreaching or twisting

  • When using the watering can - take more trips rather than struggle with an overfilled can

  • Take breaks - remember there is always another day

  • Enjoy the garden - sit back and embrace the fruits of your labour, don't just work in it!

A little anecdote:

This is something we often hear...

"I was busy in the garden sweeping, and a pot needed moving down a little step, so I could get behind it. I asked my partner to help, but he wasn't available straight away. I had nearly finished, and just wanted it to look nice, so I went ahead and moved it. And then my back "went". I knew I should have waited for help, and worse still, I knew my partner would say "I told you so!"

So, our advice - if it is too heavy or hard, ask for help.

Remember

We are available by phone/video if you need specific advice or help - 01256 466 266 or email - as well as offering face to face time in the clinic.
